In the hot summer, “replenishing water” has become the most important thing in summer. Drinking too little water may cause physical discomfort such as lack of water, which is harmful to the body. But drinking too much water, too much water may cause “water poisoning”! In this case, “drinking water” is very important. So, what should you pay attention to in summer?

What is “water poisoning”?

The so-called “water poisoning” refers to the pathological phenomenon caused by the water input exceeding the output. Also known as excessive water.
Excessive drinking of water in a short period of time can easily lead to “water poisoning”. Generally, people should drink 2000 ~ 2500ml of water per day. If you sweat a lot in summer, if you don’t do vigorous exercise, 2500 ~ 3000ml is enough.
Because the continuous maximum diuretic rate of the human kidney is 16ml per minute, once the water intake rate exceeds this standard, the excess water will swell the cells, causing dehydration and hyponatremia, generally causing dizziness, vomiting, weakness, and rapid heartbeats Such as symptoms, severe cramps, coma and even life-threatening.

Basic symptoms of “water poisoning”

1. Headache, drowsiness

The cause of drowsiness is too much water in the body, resulting in a decrease in plasma osmotic pressure and an increase in intracranial pressure. In short, after water poisoning occurs, people will be very tired and want to sleep.

2. Loss of appetite, nausea, and vomiting

A sudden intake of a large amount of water in the human body will cause the concentration of digestive juice to be severely diluted, and the water remaining in the digestive tract will also be absorbed and decreased, with symptoms of decreased appetite and nausea and vomiting.

3. Muscle cramps, pain

When a large amount of water enters the digestive tract and is absorbed into the cells by the gastrointestinal tract, it will destroy the original body fluid balance of the cells and cause the body cells to swell. This includes muscle cells throughout the body, causing muscle spasms and pain.

How to avoid water poisoning

1. Drink less

It is generally more appropriate to drink 8 glasses of water every day and drink several times. Drinking too much water at once, even if there is no water poisoning, a large amount of water accumulates in the gastrointestinal tract, which makes the chest and abdomen feel full and is unhealthy. Drinking too much water will also dilute the gastric juice, resulting in weakened absorption capacity of the gastrointestinal tract.

2. Drink before thirst

If you are thirsty, you actually have dehydration in your body.

3. Do n’t drink too fast or too fast

Drinking water too quickly and too anxiously will swallow a lot of air with it, which can easily cause hiccups or abdominal bloating. In particular, the method of drinking water after strenuous exercise is to rinse your mouth with water to moisten your mouth and throat, then drink a small amount of water, stop for a while, and then drink some to allow the body to absorb slowly.

4. Water temperature below 30 ℃ is best

It is generally recommended that warm water below 30 ° C is best, which is more in line with the physiological function of the gastrointestinal tract, and will not stimulate the gastrointestinal tract too much to cause vasoconstriction or stimulating peristalsis.

5. The most ideal is cold boiling water, light tea

In the morning, it is best to have a glass of plain water. In the afternoon, you can drink light tea to go greasy. Before going to bed at night, it is better to drink plain water.
